Earth Wind & Fire. Without doubt, the best R&B band in history. I've looked up to these musicians for years. I always wanted to play with them, but I could never get close enough to break Verdine's fingers.

India.Arie. Beautiful woman inside and out. Her mother's a knock out. Obviolusly, she was robbed at the grammys.

Richard Pryor. I was privileged to play with a band that opened up for him during his last tour. It was my first road gig. His talent is sorely missed.

Jody Watley. Don't we make a nice couple? I'm going to keep telling her that until I break her down. This was during the Japan tour 1994 (maybe the T shirt gave it away). Great tour, great boss, great boob job.

Howie Mandel. This was my first TV gig. Howie's thing was to annoy the hell out of people. I told him that one day someone was going to punch him in the face. He said that he didn't care as long as he got it on tape.

Barry Manilow. One of the greatest experiences of my life was to play with this man. He is First Class, from his performance to his treatment of his musicians. I loved every minuite of it, except when we had to play "can't smile without you."

Barry Manilow, Associates, and President Bill Clinton. When you talk to Bill Clinton, you realize why he became president. He could talk world politics one minuite and about Coltrane's alternate takes album the next. He had such a wonderful personality; too bad he got so much shit for getting a blow job.

Fran Drescher, Ray Romano & Stan Sargeant. Hillcrest High School, New York, Class of 19%@

Keiko Matsui. She's the reason I love Japan so much. She's the sweetest thing in the world.

Al Jarreau. If you look up the word 'music' in the encyclopedia, this is the face you would see. I love the way Al expresses, himself, both muss ically and personally. A truly beautiful human being.

Jay Leno. It's nice to know someone who is just as cool off camera as he is on camera. Jay helped me get a deal on my new car. I really miss playing on the Tonight Show, but life goes on.

The Tonight Show

Bettie Miner. This poster for a jazz festival was painted by artist Bettie Miner. You can find some great stuff on her website, Miner Works of Art.

Bill Cosby. Bill touched my life in many ways, for many years. When I was a child I use to pretend that he was my uncle. He deserves more respect than he's been getting.

Kurt Smith

Bobby Lyle. My friend and mentor, pianist, Bobby Lyle. He cannot be described as anything less than amazing.

Friends. Pat Prescott from 94.7 the wave, along with her Love, Reggie Jackson and up and coming saxophonist, Eric Darius
